With the longest year of many people’s lives finally coming to a close, we asked Granite State parents: What’s your wish for your family for the New Year? What are you looking forward to? Here’s what some folks are hoping to experience as we head into 2021.

“I look forward to seeing everyone's smiles again.”
– DAVE ROPPLE, MANCHESTER

“Looking forward to
traveling again. With older kids working, in college, and sports, it's
getting harder to align schedules for a family vacation. With 2020 a
washout, it might be another year or two until we can all be together
for exploration and adventure.”
– MIKE COLENA, HOLLIS

“I
wish we could get the chance to catch up with not only family, but
extended family. I hope we can gather again soon for fantastic family
events like reunions, camping trips and weddings.”
– TINA FORBES, MANCHESTER
“I wish that as we
move into the new year, we continue to take advantage of extra time at
home together, extra cuddles and hugs, and making new memories as a
family despite all the challenges around us. I am also looking forward
to when our middle child starts to listen to us!”
– KEITH BELANGER, DERRY

“My
college student has been home since March 13 – the longest period we
have shared under the same roof since she was 5, when her dad and I
divorced. It hasn’t always been easy, but it has been astonishing to see
her as the wonderful adult she is becoming. Our summer was truly
exceptional in terms of quality family time. And while we hope she
returns to campus in February, I am looking forward to “hunkering down”
in a holiday season that lasts the entire month, without being crammed
into a few weeks that she’s home; to movies and game nights and coffee
talks and savoring what a really neat person she is.”
– KATIE COLLINS, MANCHESTER
“My wish is that
we can keep our girl as happy as she is right now. That we all remain
healthy and that we can play and get together with all of our family
without fear or worry. ”
– VALERIE PSOINOS NELSON, MANCHESTER

“I look forward to the day when (our two toddlers) can’t stand their hair anymore and finally let us cut it.”
– JULIE SHEA, NASHUA
“Looking forward to the day the whole family sleeps through the night again. #WeTired ”
– (NEW MOM) SOPHIE LINKROUM, MERRIMACK

“My
wish is for us to maintain our health and sense of humor as we’ve
navigated through a challenging 2020. Hoping in 2021 isn’t as
challenging. And we can't wait for Grammy hugs! We miss Grammy hugs.”
– MARTHA HOLLAND, NASHUA

“I’m honestly just looking forward to it not being 2020 anymore.”
– MELISSA STAMMER RUNDE, WINDHAM
“Less hate, more understanding. Positivity! We are all in this together attitude! Love and help one another! ”
– SUSAN ROBINSON RIETH, MONT VERNON
